THE LODGE
The array of rooms here at the Lodge have been carefully designed with an age appropriate perspective in mind, from our soft furnishings and gentle lighting, to our unique free flow learning stations-every area has been created with great thought and detail.
The nursery has five beautiful cosy classrooms in the main building, filled with natural resources and toys for all to explore. We also have a purpose-built cabin located in a quiet corner of our stunning garden, designed specifically for the preschool children which is a space filled with resources and equipment to extend the children’s learning experiences and creates a space of wonder and awe.
THE GARDEN
Loved by our all children and families, and cared for by our experienced and passionate maintenance team, the garden takes pride of place at the Lodge and is a central focal point.
Our natural plants, flowers, herb garden and shrubbery are not only aesthetically pleasing but fill the garden with delightful aromas and really enhance the sensory experience of the space. Our landscaped garden creates defined areas for the children to explore and enjoy and encourages local wildlife, which provides the children the opportunity to observe and explore in natural habitats.
Our outdoor space has endless learning and development possibilities, from a climbing frame to promote physical development to designated sand and water play areas and much more to keep the children engaged continuously.
THE HOUSE
The interior of the Lodge has been carefully renovated to create a home from home style setting, restoring and enhancing the property’s original features enabling a character filled environment.
It has been thoughtfully decorated throughout with natural tones to provide a nurturing and soft foundation to engage the children’s learning experiences. The Nursery is based across an upper and lower floor level, with the under 2’s being on the ground floor and the 2-3 year olds sharing the upper floor level with communal spaces to enhance the free flow aspects and encourage social opportunities between the three Toddler rooms upstairs.
All rooms have between 6 to 12 children at full capacity which enables a cosy, personal style of care with their key persons and the staff members within the rooms.
FOOD! GLORIOUS FOOD!
We ensure a great emphasis is provided to the quality of our food at the Lodge as we recognise food is at the absolute core of a child’s wellbeing and development. Children are able to join us for a scrummy and nutritious array of meals including breakfast, lunch and tea during their day with us.
We also offer fresh snack options throughout the day in between meals such as fresh fruit and crudité platters. Every aspect of our meals are prepared by our passionate, knowledgeable in-house chef, and our seasonal menus are approved by a qualified nutritionist to ensure a balanced approach. We cook everything from scratch and never use salt or sugar, processed food or pre-made sauces.
Our menus are created with feedback and suggestions from our Magdalen families and always include a balanced diet of meat, fish and vegetables. We incorporate an array of different cuisines as we feel a developed palate is an integral part of a child’s development. Allergies and preferences are managed efficiently via an in-house traffic light system throughout the nursery including in the rooms, kitchen and office. The children love their food at the nursery and mealtimes are shared with our staff members to enforce a home from home style environment and are true social hotspot occasions for everyone.
